Get Your Beach on with These Summer Beauty Tips

Summer might be months away, but it’s never too early to start getting that beach-ready beauty! Whether you want to achieve that perfect beach body or glow from head to toe, get yourself prepped, primed, and ready to wow with these simple tips.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is an important step to getting baby-smooth, soft skin and a great complexion. But scrubbing off your dead skin cells doesn’t apply to just your face.

If you’re looking for a more natural way to exfoliate, you can also consider using salt and sugars scrubs. Salt scrubs are great for the rougher areas of your skin like the feet and elbows, as they’re more abrasive compared to sugar scrubs, which are gentler and can be used for more sensitive areas like the chest and neck areas.

Exfoliate twice a week by massaging your skin in gentle circular motions. If you experience any redness or irritation, scale back on your products and use gentler exfoliants.

Moisturize

If you want to get the most out of your skin and leave it feeling soft, pat dry your skin after stepping out of the shower and apply a moisturizer immediately. For lasting hydration, use products that contain Shea butter and jojoba, which help heal, tone, and nourish your skin.

And whether you’re going out or staying home, remember to apply sunscreen, primarily if you work outdoors and sit near windows. While UVB rays, which cause sunburns, cannot penetrate glass windows, UVA rays, which cause premature skin aging and wrinkles, can.

If you want to go the extra step and give your skin, especially your face, an extra surge of moisture and plumpness, try using an overnight face mask. By doing this, you can nourish your skin even while you’re sleeping.

Get Hair Out of the Way

Consider hair removal a priority about a week before your trip. There are different ways to get smooth, hair-free skin: laser hair removal, waxing, and shaving.

Laser hair removal is a quick, painless way to get smooth skin. However, you’ll have to make multiple visits to the clinic and pay a good amount of money every time you go. If you don’t have money to burn, you can choose between waxing and shaving, two entirely different things.

Waxing

Waxing is a more permanent form of hair removal since you’ll be pulling hair from the root. There are two kinds of wax you can choose from: soft and hard wax. Soft wax is made up of oils, rosins, and other additives and needs a strip to remove hair. Hard wax, on the other hand, is made from beeswax, oils, and resin. They harden up as they cool and can remove hair without having to use strips.

This type of hair removal is better if you want to see long-term effects. It is also better for light exfoliation and removing hair in the bikini area, also known as a Brazilian wax treatment. This is because the bikini area’s skin is more sensitive, and waxing offers a more precise and bump-free result.

Shaving

When you shave, you trim rather than remove the hair from the skin’s surface and leave the root attached. There are different kinds of razors out there, but the most common are safety razors and electric razors. Safety razors are disposable and usually found in grocery stores. On the other hand, electric razors are the more expensive kind of razors that can give you a cleaner shave.

If you don’t mind having to shave on a day-to-day basis and prefer a more accessible and affordable way to get rid of hair, you can choose to use a razor.

Get that Healthy Glow

You can’t call it a good summer without getting that golden skin! However, too much sun exposure can be harmful to your health. If you want a healthy and more budget-friendly glow, consider using a self-tanner. If you want to avoid ending up looking like a Cheeto, products with gradual formulation are fool-proof and help you build up color until you reach your preferred shade. You don’t want a one-go tanner that’ll make you not want to leave the house for a few weeks.

Most gradual self-tanners are beginner-friendly, but it’s still best to be cautious. You don’t want to leave behind any streaks. The first step to correctly applying a self-tanner is exfoliation. Once you’ve done that, make sure your skin is dry and use a lightweight moisturizer on streak-prone areas. After making sure that the moisturizers have absorbed into your skin, you’re ready to tan. If you don’t want the color to get on your palms, make sure to use gloves, otherwise wash your hands as soon as you’re done applying your tanner.

Use small amounts of product and start at your feet and end at your arms and hands. Make sure you’re evenly applying the self-tanner using big circular strokes. After this, move on to your face. Focus on the areas where the sun naturally hits you: your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin.

Tone Up

If you haven’t followed up on your new year’s resolution yet, now’s the perfect time to do so! Try to burn calories whenever you can, whether it’s marching in place while you’re cooking dinner, going out for a morning run, or dancing along to your favorite music. If you want to go the extra step, try creating the perfect workout plan that works for you. Whether it’s cardio or strength training, getting active is a great way to shed off that excess weight and look your best in the summer.

Of course, exercise isn’t the only thing you should keep track of to get the perfect beach body. If you’re pigging out on your favorite fast food every other night, it might be time to make a change in your diet too. Experiment with different recipes and if you have time, create meal plans for yourself based on your workout goal.

Preparing for your summer glow-up might take a little bit of effort, but it’ll pay off. As long as you know how to discipline yourself, keep your workouts consistent, and keep a great skincare regimen, you’ll be beach-ready in no time!
